1. Introduction
Reverse Osmosis is a membrane separation and filtration technology that uses pressure difference as power. It can separate inorganic salts, heavy metal ions, organic matter, colloids, bacteria, viruses and other impurities in source water. It can be used for the preparation of space water, purified water and distilled water; wine blending; preliminary preparation of water in the pharmaceutical and electronic industries; concentration, separation, purification and water distribution preparation of chemical processes; desalination of boiler feed water; desalination of brackish water; papermaking , electroplating, printing and dyeing industry water.
2. Operating Principle
The pore size of the RO membrane is as small as nanometers, and H2O can pass through the RO membrane, while impurities such as inorganic salts, heavy metal ions, organic matter, colloids, bacteria, and viruses cannot pass through. Apply pressure to the feed liquid on one side of the membrane. When the pressure exceeds its osmotic pressure, the solvent will reverse osmosis against the direction of natural osmosis. Thereby, the permeated solvent, ie permeate, is obtained on the low pressure side of the membrane; the concentrated solution, ie the concentrated solution, is obtained on the high pressure side. If reverse osmosis is used to treat seawater, fresh water is obtained on the low pressure side of the membrane, and brine is obtained on the high pressure side.
